Greater Sao Paulo and the State of Sao Paulo have a population of 38 million. The region is responsible for 40.62 percent of Brazil's GDP (US$456.5 billion in 2002). With 90 percent of Brazil's 200 leading export companies based there, Greater Sao Paulo was responsible for most of Brazil's US$60.4 billion in 2002 exports and, with 2,570 foreign-owned business there, most of Brazil's US$47.2 billion in 2002 imports.

WTC Sao Paulo is privately owned and is certified in trade services by the WTCA. WTC Sao Paulo specializes in trade information, trade education and group trade missions, and offers a full service trade show exhibition facility and a World Trade Club.
 
Outstanding Service: Exhibitions, Conferences and Trade Shows
 
WTC Sao Paulo hosted an average of 756 events per year over the past two years, including trade shows, product exhibitions and conferences. These activities attracted an average of 109,000 attendees per year, exhibitors and visitors whose spending made a significant contribution to the local economy.

Overall, the WTC Sao Paulo has played a significant role in its region toward the increase of international trade, as well as providing a significant economic benefit to its community.

The events held at WTC Sao Paulo have played an important role in helping the State of Sao Paulo produce billions of dollars in annual trade. While no comprehensive figures are available, anecdotal evidence abounds. According to Indian Consul-General Deepak Bhojwani, a two-day exhibition of regional art at the WTC Sao Paulo last year generated US$30 million in sales.
